BuzzCode

Your building's intercom, finally on your terms.

BuzzCode gives your intercom a phone number that answers itself. Guests enter a code on the keypad and the gate opens. No call to your phone. No missed deliveries. Perfect for short-term rentals.

Cancel anytime. Available in the United States and Canada.

How it works

  1. 1

Add your unit and get a number

Sign in, name your unit, and pick a local phone number in your area code. It's yours from the first payment.

  2. 2

Give that number to your building

Add the BuzzCode number to your unit's entry in the intercom directory. Or replace the number that's there, if your building only allows one. That's the only setup step.

  3. 3

Guests buzz, enter their code, and walk in

The intercom dials your BuzzCode number. BuzzCode answers, checks the code, and opens the gate. Anyone without a code can still ring through to your phone.

What you get

A dedicated local number

One per unit, in your area code. Works with any intercom that dials a phone.

A code for every guest

Give each stay its own code and set it to expire at checkout. Family and cleaners get their own codes too.

Keypad or voice

Guests type a PIN on the intercom keypad. If your intercom doesn't pass key presses, they can say a passphrase instead.

Forwarding when you want it

No code? The call rings your real phone so you can still open the gate. All day, or only during hours you set.

Instant alerts

An email the moment the gate opens or someone enters a wrong code. Every call shows up in your activity log.

Nothing to install

No app for guests and no hardware. You manage everything on this site.

The honest part

We don't touch your intercom.

BuzzCode can't program your building's directory. Your building manager or the intercom company does that. It's usually a one-line change: add the BuzzCode number we give you to your unit's entry. If your building only allows one number per unit, replace the existing one instead.

Once that number is in, you're all set. Codes, forwarding, and alerts are all managed right here. You never need to bother the building again.

Works with intercoms that dial a phone number (most do). Not for app-only or key-fob-only systems.

Questions

Does my intercom work with BuzzCode?+

Yes, if your intercom calls a phone number when a visitor selects your unit. That's the kind where you press a key on your phone to open the door, and it covers most apartment and gated-community systems. App-only or key-fob-only systems don't apply.

Where does BuzzCode work?+

In the United States (including Puerto Rico) and Canada. We're expanding to more countries soon. If yours isn't listed yet, send us a note and we'll let you know when it's ready.

What if the keypad doesn't send tones during the call?+

Some intercoms don't pass key presses once the call connects. Switch the unit to spoken passphrase mode and guests say a phrase instead, like "blue banana". You can also allow both.

Can I give different codes to guests, family, and my cleaner?+

Yes. Each code has a name, an optional start and end date, and an optional number of uses. Turn any code off without affecting the others. The activity log shows which code was used.

What about deliveries and visitors without a code?+

You choose per unit: hang up, forward the call to your phone, or forward only during set hours. When it forwards, you open the gate from your phone the same way you do today.

What happens if I cancel?+

Your number keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for. Then it's released. Cancel any time from the billing portal. No contract, no fees.

Is it secure?+

Only you can see your codes. Repeated wrong codes trigger a lockout and an alert. Every call is verified as coming from our phone provider before it's answered.
